Brudis & Associates, Inc. (BAI) is seeking a full time Mechanical Equipment Inspector to work in various locations within Charles County and St. Mary’s County, Maryland.
Job Summary:
BAI is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Equipment Inspector to oversee the inspection and evaluation of mechanical systems in new construction and renovation projects located within Charles and St Mary’s Counties. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring that all mechanical equipment meets industry standards and is installed correctly. In addition to inspection responsibilities, the ideal candidate will also possess commissioning experience, including certification in system startup processes such as a certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) and/or Systems Completion, Commissioning Startup (CSU). The position will require frequent site visits to construction and renovation locations, which could involve various indoor and outdoor settings.
Responsibilities:

Conduct thorough inspections of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical equipment, during new construction and renovation projects to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and safety standards.

Familiar with new building construction and building and renovations to ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, codes, and safety standards

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to identify and resolve any discrepancies or issues discovered during the inspection process.

Review design documentation, equipment specifications, and installation procedures to ensure alignment with quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Perform functional testing and commissioning of mechanical systems, ensuring that all processes are carried out effectively and efficiently.

Utilize industry-standard practices and methodologies to oversee the startup of mechanical equipment, ensuring safe and reliable operation.

Prepare detailed inspection reports, documentation, and photographs providing clear feedback and recommendations to project teams on areas of improvement or non-compliance.

Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and commissioning processes in compliance with company policies and legal regulations.

Stay current with industry developments, technologies, and regulations related to mechanical systems and commissioning practices.

Provide training and guidance to junior inspectors, contractors, and subcontractors regarding best practices in mechanical system installation and inspection.
Required Experience/Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (preferred).

A minimum of five years of experience in mechanical inspection within the construction industry, focusing on new construction and renovations.

Valid certification in commissioning and system startup (e.g., CCP, CSU, or equivalent).

In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, building codes, safety standards, and industry best practices.

Proficient in using inspection tools and software for documentation and analysis.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Strong attention to detail and an eye for identifying potential issues before they escalate.

Ability to work in various environmental conditions and adhere to safety procedures.

Salary Range and Benefits:
· Non-exempt position with the potential of overtime pay (time and a half)
· Expected base salary range: $65,000 to $90,000 per year
· Monthly cell phone allowance provided
