, ,BRUDIS & ASSOCIATES, INC. (BAI) is a multidiscipline engineering firm providing consulting services to public and private sector clients in the Maryland, District of Columbia region. Since 1992, BAI has provided comprehensive, innovative and effective solutions to our clients’ transportation and infrastructure needs.
BAI is actively seeking a Project Engineer for immediate employment in our Columbia, MD Office. The qualified candidate will be able to demonstrate an ability to work independently on smaller projects or portions of larger projects and have experience in both bridge and structural design elements. Typical projects will involve developing plans, specifications and estimates for bridge replacements/rehabilitations and other transportation structures; review of contractor shop drawings, bridge inspections and load ratings. Projects may also involving building structural design for public schools and park type projects.
Knowledge, Skills and Minimum Requirements
- Minimum BSCE in Civil Engineering or appropriate discipline
- EIT required, Maryland Registered Professional Engineer License preferred
- PE license in VA and/or DC a plus
- 5 years minimum (10 years preferred) experience in structural analysis & design (steel, concrete, timber) and bridge inspection
- Working knowledge of Microstation and/or AutoCAD
- Experience with LRFD concrete and steel design
- Proficiency using structural design software (LARS, Merlin-Dash, STAAD, etc)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work well within a project team
- Ability to travel to perform work on project sites
- Detail oriented with strong skills in structural analysis, steel design and concrete design as it relates to transportation structures
- Experience with Maryland SHA and Maryland County DPW projects is preferred
- NHI Bridge Inspection certifications a plus (NHI 130055, NHI 130053, NHI 130078, NHI 130087)
- Other OSHA training a plus (confined space, fall protection, ladder safety, OSHA 10, OSHA 30)

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $140,000.00 per year.
